In less than eight weeks, 47 requests were submitted through our online directory. Of those, 14 led to concrete connections: a manufacturer looking for a used CNC milling machine, a company needing an industrial painting subcontractor, another searching for a panic bar supplier. Real needs, concrete answers, found through the CVDM network.
These connections aren't coincidence. They're the result of a living directory, fed by companies that took the time to clearly document what they do and what they're looking for.
And that's exactly where you have a role to play.
Two Forms of Matchmaking, One Mission
CVDM offers two complementary types of matchmaking, and understanding the difference is useful.
Structured matchmaking relies on detailed advanced forms available in your member space. It's a precise, reliable approach for well-defined needs and offerings — think of two puzzle pieces fitting perfectly together. It's particularly well-suited for companies that want to document very specific capabilities such as equipment, certifications or targeted sectors.
Semantic matchmaking works differently. Our engine analyzes the text content of your profile, simple forms and website through vectorization — a technology that understands the meaning of what you write, not just keywords. It's a more flexible approach, and we believe it represents the future of intelligent matchmaking. Semantic matchmaking builds on what you naturally say about your business. A description written in your own words can generate connections just as precise as a structured form, while adapting to each company's reality.

In practical terms: if you don't have time to fill out the advanced forms, writing in natural language what you offer and what you're looking for in the free text fields of the general simple form is already extremely valuable. The more precise and detailed your description, the better the system can connect you with the right players.
The two approaches complement each other. One doesn't exclude the other.
Your Website: An Often Underestimated Asset
Our engine also performs webcrawling on member websites. Your website isn't just a showcase for your clients or an asset for appearing in Google searches, AI engines or online results. It's also a direct source of information that CVDM uses to better highlight your products and services in our directory. A current website that clearly describes your capabilities and sectors automatically increases your visibility in our matchmaking searches. It's an efficient way to be found without additional effort on your part, as long as the information is there and up to date.
A Toolkit in its Early Stages
To make it easier to update your profile, we're launching a toolkit available directly on the CVDM website, under the Intelligent Matchmaking section. A first tool is now available, and others will be added progressively over the coming months.
If you have questions about what CVDM does, how matchmaking works, or how to improve your online profile, write to us at info@cvdm.org. Your questions help us build better resources and make information available to the entire community.
Digital transformation for a manufacturing SME isn't always a major project. It's also making sure the tools already available are working for you. Updating your CVDM profile is a 15-minute action that can generate concrete results for months.
