Centre for the Valorization of Manufacturing Data (CVDM)

The Centre for the Valorization of Manufacturing Data (CVDM) is a non-profit organization founded in June 2021 by and for stakeholders in the manufacturing sector. The CVDM is a new complementary player in a new market within the ecosystem linked to the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Industry 4.0.

The Centre’s mission is to promote, support, and develop a dynamic and collaborative community or economic sector focused on the use of manufacturing data and cooperation in digital transformation.

What makes the CVDM unique and innovative is that it offers companies a manufacturing data valorization (MDV) platform and access to a large exchange community powered by the mature the CDVM platform—an interactive showcase that already reaches 5,000 manufacturing companies, 140 expert firms, and 9,800 newsletter subscribers.

The CVDM therefore aims to support and develop a community by bridging the various players in the digital ecosystem and the CDVM, enabling research, exchanges, projects, and partnerships.

The CVDM also aims to optimize manufacturers’ decision-making and generate manufacturing data valorization projects within a collaborative, shared-services framework.

The CVDM will bring significant value through event organization and partnerships with Québec’s digital ecosystem players. Eight associations and industry excellence clusters already support it, along with more than 20 companies. The Salon Bleu, organized by the CDVM in June 2020, brought together 3,000 participants, 160 exhibitors, and 20,000 booth visits.

The economic impact targeted by the CVDM is to significantly improve and stimulate sourcing and business exchanges among Québec manufacturers. Through its networking—which accelerates connections while reducing risks—the CVDM’s services enable, among other things, circular economy initiatives and business groupings by optimizing logistics and the supply chain.

The Centre will participate in organizing skills-development and business networking events with partners from Québec’s digital ecosystem.

The Centre also supports and improves the management of organizations and associations using dedicated resources such as YAPLA, which serves more than 30,000 organizations worldwide, including at least 3,500 in Québec.

As a result, manufacturers and associations can benefit from the following CVDM services:

• Easy, free access to a dynamic and up-to-date community (directory of Québec suppliers, experts, and clients)
• Access to a secure, compliant, proven digital platform that enables visibility, information search, exchanges, project execution, and transactions: manufacturier.quebec (interactive showcase; data matching, benchmarking, startup and various postings)
• Support for developing processes to extract trends, statistics, and actionable information from the jumble of massive manufacturing data (Big Data)
• Personalized support for carrying out data valorization projects, individually or in small groups, enabling shared resources and cooperation between company experts and CVDM consultants)
• Support for managing an organization through the YAPLA platform
• Support from a proven expert (www.cvdm.org and the Salon Bleu)
• Partnership support for networking, matchmaking, management, event organization, special projects, and community development (training, technology watch)

Projected CVDM service users for 2022–23

• 5,000 connected members (free) currently, expected to reach 7,500 in under 2 years across Québec
• 550 to 1,000 users of the manufacturier.quebec exchange and search service
• 8 associations and excellence clusters already integrated into the data valorization platform, expected to double within 2 years
• 3 groups of 5 companies in shared-project initiatives for manufacturing data valorization in Québec
